Chunnambar is a famous beach
resort located in Ariyankuppam, 7-km from Pondicherry , on the route to
Cuddalore. Chunnambar is one place where tourists can go rowing,
trekking, fishing and have loads of fun. The place doesn't lack anything
when it comes to scenic beauty. On one side, there are the calm
backwaters and on the other, a long seashore aptly named Plage Paradiso!

on a tree house and watch the sunrise, have a picnic at the beach and

functional water sports centre and a breathtaking pool amidst the
backwaters.
Water Sports Centre
A swimming pool in the midst of
the backwaters, floats and a swimming coach are all there to help
visitors learn swimming. One can also learn Kayaking at the same time.
Motorboats are also available that take one to the mouth of the
backwater and the nearby beach. For those who want to skim over water
there are Hydroplanes available over here. One can also go to the place
where the river branches out in a rowboat or pedal about and enjoy the
scenic beauty, leisurely.
Plage Paradiso
The beach at Chunnambar is
located near the mouth of the backwater. The sand is pristine and the
water is clean. It's an ideal place for sun bathing and beach sports.
Visitors can borrow volleyballs and net from the water sports centre for
an exciting session of beach volleyball. For those interested in
fishing, fishing rods are also available at the water sports centre. The
idea is to have unlimited, uninhibited fun.
Tree Top Houses
The three tree top houses in
Chunnambar offer visitors the bliss of ecotourism. One can either read a
novel, paint, listen to music meditate or even stay overnight, all on
the top of a tree. Sunrise panorama, Palm house and Nest bird are the
three tree top houses at Chunnambar. Sunrise panorama offers an
unrestricted view of the backwater up to its mouth. Palm house on the
other hand overlooks the artificial pond and park. Nest bird is the
perfect above for the adventure loving folks; it has a rope ladder that
leads to a small balcony.
The Restaurant At The Resort
The resort also has a
multi-cuisine restaurant called Seagulls, which specialises in Tandoori
and Chinese food. So visitors can stop worrying about packing lunch!
They are so cool that they even serve food in the small huts, which are
placed just outside the restaurant. In fact, you could order a picnic
lunch and take it right to the beach!

Air: Chennai is the nearest
airport with both domestic and international terminus.
Rail: The nearest railway
stations are at Cuddalore and Pondicherry . Cuddalore railway station is
connected by rail directly from Chennai via Villupuram. Pondicherry
railway station has only few trains, which run between Pondicherry and
Villupuram. The nearest railway junction is at Chennai .
Road: There are regular buses
from Cuddalore and Pondicherry to Chunnambar Beach.
